lyrica
is my new drug
despite its name
it unfortunately has not
endowed me with
amazing
lyrical or songwriting abilities
as its poet-in-a-pill name
implies
no, it just makes me reeeeeally
sleepy
i’ve also been doing
physical therapy and
acupuncture and
chinese herbal medicine and
massage therapy and
traction and
reiki and
the bio-mat
i am always
going to an appointment
i switched a few months ago from
traditional physical therapy to
pilates-based pt
which is quite a bit different
but has been more effective
for my problem
though they have recommended
i cut back on yoga
as i’m hyperflexible to begin with
the pill does help with the pain
as my neurologist said it would
i’ve had two more mri’s
and a referral to a neurosurgeon
who said surgery will not help
i should just be patient
and acupuncture was the best thing i could be doing
he has a ponytail
and a very mellow demeanor
so i call him my hippie neurosurgeon
they think i might
be able to
swim again
[not just with a kickboard]
in a month or so
